Dog Daycare Near Midtown Toronto — Davisville, Lawrence Park | Academy Daycare

Dog Daycare for Midtown Toronto — Davisville, Yonge & Eglinton, Lawrence Park

If you live in midtown Toronto with a dog, daycare isn’t a luxury — it’s infrastructure. The Yonge and Eglinton corridor is one of the densest residential stretches in the city. Condos, stacked townhomes, apartments with no yard, no fence, and a balcony that counts as “outdoor space.” Your dog is spending 8-10 hours inside while you work. That’s not a lifestyle — it’s confinement.

Davisville and the Yonge-Eglinton area understand this viscerally. Dog ownership here is high precisely because these neighbourhoods attract young professionals and families who want a dog but live in 700 square feet. The parks help — June Rowlands, Sherwood Park, the belt-line trail — but a 30-minute walk and a sniff around the dog bowl at Starbucks doesn’t replace structured activity and socialization.

Academy Daycare is 30-35 minutes north in Gormley, straight up the DVP and 404. We exist because the daycare options inside the city — the ones within walking distance of your condo — are generally understaffed, overcrowded, and run by people whose primary qualification is a lease on a commercial unit.

The Midtown Condo Dog Problem

Here’s what we see regularly from Davisville and midtown clients: a two-year-old dog that’s never been properly socialized because they’ve spent most of their life in an apartment. They get walks, they go to the dog park, but they’ve never learned to exist calmly in a group of dogs for an extended period. They’re either anxious, over-aroused, or both.

This isn’t a training failure — it’s an environment problem. Condo dogs don’t get the passive socialization that dogs with backyards in Lawrence Park get from daily fence-line interactions and neighbourhood foot traffic. They need structured, supervised exposure. That’s what daycare provides — but only if it’s done correctly.

At Academy, we run temperament-matched groups in an 8,500 sq ft facility with multiple play areas, an outdoor yard, and dedicated rest zones. Dogs are grouped by energy level, play style, and temperament — not just size. Our team are canine behaviour specialists with 15 years of experience, and we’ve maintained zero serious incidents across that entire time.

Three Programs for Three Different Dogs

Standard Daycare — $55/day

The right fit for well-socialized dogs that do well in group play. Supervised, structured, with active management by behaviour specialists. For midtown condo dogs, regular daycare on a consistent schedule fundamentally changes their behaviour at home. A dog that’s been properly exercised and socialized during the day doesn’t destroy your furniture or bark at every sound in the hallway.

OptionPricePer Day
Single day$55$55
5-day pack$265$53
10-day pack$500$50
15-day pack$705$47
Unlimited$649/moIncludes bath & nail trim

The unlimited pack at $649/month is where most midtown clients land. Five days a week of daycare plus a monthly bath and nail trim — the math works out to roughly $30/day, and your dog comes home clean.

Day & Train — $95/day

This is the program that midtown dog owners didn’t know they needed until they see the results. Day & Train combines full obedience training with structured socialization. Throughout the day, your dog gets 1-on-1 training sessions — commands, leash work, treadmill fitness, place cot training — with temperament-matched group play between sessions.

For condo dogs especially, the place cot and impulse control work is transformative. A dog that can hold a place command in a busy facility can settle on a mat in your condo while you’re on a work call. The skills transfer directly.

We use professional training tools: prong collars, e-collars (TENS-based, not shock), slip leads, and muzzles when appropriate. Intact dogs are welcome in Day & Train, where they receive individualized management.

OptionPricePer Day
Single day$95$95
5-day pack$465$93
10-day pack$900$90
15-day pack$1,305$87
Unlimited$1,395/moIncludes bath & nail trim

Behavioural Daycare — $95/day

If your dog has been turned away from a daycare before — reactive on leash, anxious in groups, over-aroused, or generally “too much” — behavioural daycare is designed for exactly this.

We see this frequently with midtown dogs. A young dog that’s been under-socialized in a condo, gets taken to a dog park, has a bad experience, and now reacts to every dog on the street. The owner tries daycare, the daycare declines the dog after a trial day, and now the dog is stuck — no socialization, no outlet, behaviour getting worse.

Behavioural daycare uses smaller groups, hands-on trainer management, gradual introductions, and a structured confidence-building approach. At $95/day, it turns “can’t do daycare” dogs into dogs that thrive in it.

Boarding — $75/night

Same facility, same team. $75/night standard, $65/night for stays of 7+ nights. Your dog already knows the space, the staff, and the routine.

The Real Cost of a Bad Daycare

Midtown has daycare options. Some are a 10-minute walk from your condo. The question isn’t proximity — it’s what your dog’s day actually looks like.

A crowded room with one attendant and 25 dogs isn’t daycare. It’s containment. Your dog comes home exhausted — but not from good activity. From stress, over-stimulation, and being in survival mode for eight hours.

Thirty minutes north, there’s a facility where your dog is matched with compatible playmates, supervised by behaviour specialists, and comes home genuinely settled. Where if your dog has issues, we don’t decline them — we have a program for them.
